Our final day in NYC arrived way sooner than I would have liked it to, but it was amazing none the less!
We started off with breakfast at (you’ll never guess) the Bread Factory, and I filled up on lucky charms and fruit. From there, we went off to FIT for a tour or their school and labs.

FIT is a New York City based university that focuses on Fashion Innovation and Technology. It was really fun to see where NYC’s famous fashion designers find their footing! We got to tour textiles labs, fragrance and cosmetic facilities, and graphic design studios.
From there we went over to Brooklyn, where we took a tour of WHOP offices and learned about online potential for entrepreneurs. It was a great learning experience for a good number of students in our group.

After that we took a quick lunch break, and while the group headed out for a third visit, I took a break for a hotel nap. Like I said in our past few articles, sleep is essential for successful disabled travel! After that, our group headed to dinner separately, while Daniel and I had a date night featuring Trace. I would have loved to eat with the group, but unfortunately, they chose a restaurant that wasn’t safe for me to eat at for the third time that day, and I needed real food!
We also found a gluten free bakery, Posh Pop Bakeshop, where we got not one but three different deserts to try! I had brownies, cookies, and donuts all at the same time for the first time in years! It was a great way to round out the trip. After that, we headed back to the hotel for an early night. Daniel’s flight left at 9:30 in the morning, so we had to be up and at the airport by 7:30 to make sure he could make it on time.

I decided to include day five in this article as well, because who needs an entire article dedicated to airports and waiting?
We left the hotel bright and early, took two trains and a bus, and finally made it to the airport by about 7:45. Daniel made it onto his plane, and I waited for the rest of the NCSU group in the airport until around 1. From there, we went through TSA and boarded our flight home! After that, Daniel picked me up from the airport, and we finally made it home.

Thanks for tagging along for our NYC journey! I hope you enjoyed the updates and know that we’ll be posting more soon about air travel with your pup, NYC museums, and navigating groups trips as a disabled person.
Trailblaze on!
