Our big travel plans have final come to fruition! Trace and I have hit the big apple. This article is less of an informative piece, and a more fun write for us. I want to focus on how our trip has been, what we’ve been up to, and how we’ve made our travel plans accessible.

Yesterday was mainly a travel day for us. We got up at four am, got ready to leave, and had my lovely boyfriend drive us to the airport. He followed us a few hours later on a different flight.
After we made it to the airport, we checked in, traversed TSA, and made it to our gate after some time. We looked for a service animal relief area in RDU but had no luck past TSA. Fortunately, Trace has been absolutely amazing and didn’t need it.
I’m sure all of you see this coming, but we’re going to do a series later about air travel with your service dog, so I won’t get into all of the tips and tricks that went along with that. Just know that traveling with a service dog complicates air travel but makes it easier at the same time!

After that, we spent some time in the airport looking for a Service Animal Relief Area (which Trace ended up not using) and waiting for our group’s bags. As we waited, Trace had breakfast and hydrated for the first time all morning.
We then headed into the city on a train and got off at Penn Station. From here, we grabbed brunch at Andrew’s NYC Diner (which was amazing) and then rested up in the hotel lobby. Our room wasn’t ready yet, but we still had some time to relax.

We then went to Madison Energy, for our first Innovation and Entrepreneurship Alumni Visit. We’re actually in NYC for a work trip with I&E, so these visits will be a big part of our trip.

From there, we got dinner and headed back to the hotel. Fieldmans had lots of great gluten free options, so I was in a pretty good and sleepy mood after that!
Once we got back to the hotel, I cleaned up our space, gave Tre his dinner, and started getting ready for bed myself! He got cozy faster than I did.

I took a well deserved shower, changed into my pjs, and passed out. We’ve got another busy and exciting day today, so I’ll be sure to keep you posted!
In the mean time, Trailblaze on!
